Because we use the highly reputable online payment company World Pay, which is owned and run by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Firstly, if you asked for your money back and we refused, you would simply call your credit card company. You would tell them about our guarantee and how we had reneged on our pledge. They would implement a "recharge" from World Pay.
World Pay keep your money for several weeks before handing it over to us. They always keep a reserve to cover recharge requests.
And World Pay have to give the money back to your card company, regardless of what we or they think. We have no say in the matter.
Now the other thing is that if World Pay see a lot of requests on our account we'd be in serious trouble. They would threaten us with cancellation of our account if the recharges continued at the same level. They basically can't be bothered with the admin.
If we lost our World Pay account this would be a major blow. It would threaten our ability to trade online with any other online payment firm.
We couldn't just set up under another name. Each director would be seriously blacklisted.
This would effectively shut down our ability to do business online. Not
a happy prospect for us and one we certainly won't be risking.
